Conference On Unions And Parties In Comparative Perspective

SWOP, jointly with the Institute of Development Studies, University of Zimbabwe and the Political Science and Development Group, Stockholm University (PODSU), is organising a joint international conference on unions and parties to be held in Johannesburg in July 2006. The conference will bring together African scholars and union activists and will take a comparative approach to union-party relations in four regions of the continent, namely, Southern Africa, East Africa, West Africa and North Africa. The conference, which is organized to coincide with the opening of the World Congress of Sociology in Durban, will also provide opportunities for forging enduring collaborative research networks among scholars on the continent.
